MEMORISE: Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Psalm 119:18

READ: 2 Kings 6:15-23 Open Heavens 12 September 2025

15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lordopened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

23 And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

MESSAGE – Open Heavens 12 September 2025 Friday Daily Devotional

Today, I will conclude my discussion on spiritual eyes as part of the series I started three days ago. In todayโ€™s Bible reading, an army came to arrest Elisha, and his servant became afraid. Elisha, however, was not bothered; he told his servant that those who were with them were more than those who were against them. He then prayed that God should open his servantโ€™s eyes. Even though the boy wasnโ€™t physically blind and could see the Syrian army, his spiritual eyes needed to be opened so he could see Godโ€™s mighty army surrounding them.

..And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17

After God opened the spiritual eyes of Elishaโ€™s servant, his fear of the Syrian army must have disappeared immediately. Elisha then asked God to smite the Syrian soldiers with blindness, and he led them to the kingโ€™s palace. He wasnโ€™t holding any weapon, neither did he bind the soldiers; he just told them to follow him, and because they had become blind, they followed him into their enemyโ€™s territory. They would have lost their lives that day if Elisha had not stopped the king from killing them. He was able to arrest the soldiers who came to arrest him because he could see beyond the physical.

In 1 Samuel 17, Israel was being tormented by Goliath. The torment went on for 40 days and nights because there was no one on the battlefield whose spiritual eyes were opened. They all saw a formidable giant, but David came to the battlefield and saw Goliath as a dead man. David said to him, โ€œI come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today, I will cut off your head and feed the Philistine army to the birds so that the whole world will know that there is a God in Israelโ€ (1 Samuel 17:45-46).

Beloved, what you see with your spiritual eyes will go a long way in determining if you will live as a victim or a victorious believer. If you have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, spend quality time in constant fellowship with Him. As you do this, I pray that the Lord will open your spiritual eyes. If, however, the Lord has already opened your spiritual eyes, I pray for greater revelations for you, in Jesusโ€™ name.

Are your spiritual eyes open?

Open Heavens 12 September 2025 Friday Commentary

Hallelujah.

Our topic for today once more is spiritual eyes part two. Over the past few days, we have learned that man has three kinds of eyes. The physical eyes, mental eyes, and spiritual eyes. 3 days ago, we studied how the physical eyes helps us see the natural. We learned that our eyes are channels through which our bodies could either be filled with light or with darkness. And whatever we dwell upon is what will determine whether we receive that light or we are filled with darkness. Two days back we studied about our mental eyes which are the eyes of our understanding. They help us gain knowledge. We also learned from that study about the importance of prioritizing gaining knowledge over temporary pleasure and entertainment.

Yesterday we studied the first part of the topic spiritual eyes where we learned that our spiritual eyes help us to see the unseen realities of God. They see beyond the physical and they reveal to us things that may be spiritually hidden. Today we bring this series to a conclusion by looking more deeply at the power and necessity of spiritual sight. We learned from today’s study that when your spiritual eyes are open, you will see beyond the obvious, you would rise above fear, and you would walk in the victory of Christ. Taking a look at the story of the servant of Elisha which we see in today’s study, you’d realize that when the servant looked through the physical eyes, he was filled with fear. But Elisha was filled with great assurance and confidence. Why? Because he could see what his servant could not see. It was Elijah who told his servant, “Fear not, for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” What a perspective. Two men stood in the same place. They were looking at the same battlefield, yet they saw two different realities. One saw defeat and the other saw victory.

However, after that Elisha prayed for his servant and his eyes were opened spiritually, fear disappeared. This reveals to us from today’s study that when your spiritual eyes are opened, panic gives way to peace and trembling fear and the likes give way to triumph. In today’s study, we learn that Elisha did not even need to lift a weapon up. Yet, he had victory over his enemies. This reveals to us that when you see with spiritual eyes, you do not fight as men fight. When your spiritual eyes are working, you operate from the position of divine strategy. Even those who come against you will not understand how you always overcome. When you see with your spiritual eyes, the battlefield is shifted from the visible realm to the invisible realm where God reigns supreme, where he is the Lord of hosts. No wonder 2 Corinthians 10:4 reminds us that the weapons of our warfare are not cannal. It says they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

This is one big reason why you must always pray to God to sharpen your vision. When you have spiritual sight, what looks like a trap to others may turn into your testimony. What looks like an attack may become your avenue of advancement. It may become your channel of a great breakthrough. Hallelujah. We also see the story of David and Golth in today’s study. How was it possible that a shepherd boy would have the confidence to face not just an ordinary army officer but a veteran who was also a giant. It looked like the mission was impossible or that David was going on a suicide mission. However, he knew exactly in whom he trusted at his own level of height. He could see what even the giant could not see. Hallelujah. So, while the armies of Israel saw an unbeatable warrior and their mental eyes were calculating the risks involved, David saw a fallen enemy. He could see before him food for the birds of the air. While the armies of Israel saw defeat, David saw a platform, an opportunity for God to reveal his glory, the same God whom the Philistine had mocked and defied for 40 days. And did God glorify himself? Yes, he did.

So beloved, the difference between David and the other armies of Israel was not in the size of David or in the kinds of instruments of war that he carried. The difference was in the vision of the beholder. So, I’d like to ask us today, what do you see when challenges rise against you? Do you see defeat? Do you see yourself as a victim? Or do you see yourself as a victor in Christ? Do you see that challenge as an avenue for God to reveal and to showcase his glory? There’s no doubt that as believers, God wants us to live by revelation, not by sight. Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that we walk by faith, not by sight. Faith is not blind. Faith is sight through the spiritual eyes. Faith sees the promises of God even when the circumstances look contrary. When the natural eyes say it is finished, the spiritual eyes say God is just beginning. He’s just starting. When the natural eyes see a closed door, the spiritual eyes see a divine opening. So beloved, ensure that your spiritual eyes remain opened so that you can enjoy the confidence and the peace of heart that God gives no matter the storm. Otherwise, fear will dominate you.

To keep our spiritual eyes open, it is important for us to continue in fellowship with God, spending time with him in prayer, worship, and the word. It is important also that we do not give room to sin as sin has the capacity to cloud vision. We must also have faith in God’s promises believing whatever he tells us without any element of doubt knowing that he is able and faithful to bring them to pass. Ensure to also surround yourself with the right community of faith. Surround yourself with people who see through the eyes of the spirit. Those who can serve as iron to sharpen you.

I would like us at this point to bow our heads and appreciate the Lord for how he has led us through this devotional series and for all that he has taught us. Just appreciate the Lord. Say father we are grateful. Tell him thank you for opening my understanding in this series. Lord I am grateful in the name of Jesus. Now ask the Lord today say Lord open my spiritual eyes to see beyond the natural in Jesusโ€™s name. Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, let my eyes be opened to see beyond the physical in the name of Jesus.” Ask him today. Say, “Father, please deliver me from every fear and doubt that may have been caused by limited vision in the name of Jesus.” Ask him for the grace today to always see victory where others see defeat. That we will not fall for the tricks and the deception of the enemy. That we will not fall for his gimmicks in the name of Jesus. that our faith would always stand strong in the face of challenges in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today, Father, please remove every veil of blindness from my life. In the name of Jesus, whatever blinds me to the reality of the spiritual realm of all that you have made available to me, Father, please take it out of my life in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father please surround me with your fire and let me see your mighty army fighting for me in the name of Jesus.

We have his angels all around us. Say father please open my eyes. Let me always have that consciousness that you are with me that I am not alone that I never walk alone in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, like David, help me to see every Goliath as already defeated in my life in the name of Jesus. Let me see them as a finished case, as a done deal to your glory in the name of Jesus. Let faith arise. Let every situation, everything that looks like goliath in my life today be defeated and be considered finished in the name of Jesus. As you arise, oh Lord, let there be scattered in Jesus’ name. Also ask the Lord today say Lord grant me greater revelations of your power and presence daily in Jesusโ€™s name like he did for the servant of Elisha. Say father please grant me a revelation of your power. Let me see, let me understand in the name of Jesus. Why not ask him for a sharpened discernment that keeps us from the traps of the enemy in Jesusโ€™s name. that wherever the enemy may be setting traps, wherever he may be orchestrating plans of evil because I have spiritual eyes in the name of Jesus, let their plans be foiled in Jesus’ name. Also ask the Lord today, Father, let my spiritual sight lead me into consistent victory in the name of Jesus. Let me move from glory to glory, from victory to victory to your glory in the name of Jesus. Let me be victorious on every side. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just worship him, give him thanks, exalt the name of the Lord. Father, we are grateful because we know you hear and answer us in Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
