1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 19 July 2026 Sunday Daily Devotional

In today’s Bible reading, Peter fished all night but caught nothing. He must have been frustrated, and I can relate to how he must have felt because I love to fish. I often go fishing to relax, and sometimes, within five minutes of throwing my hook in the water, I make a catch. On other occasions, however, I might spend an hour without catching any fish. Peter’s efforts that night were in vain, not because he wasn’t working hard, but because things just weren’t working out for him.

When I was still a lecturer at the University of Lagos, an advertisement was made for a position at a company, and a professor applied. He was invited for an interview, and on getting to the venue of the interview, he found out that the chairman of the panel of interviewers was his former student who had graduated recently. When the professor saw him, he said, “l am sorry. I have come to the wrong room.” However, the young man told him that he was in the right room. The professor felt ashamed because he was definitely not where he was meant to be in his career.

Some people fail in their careers and academics not because they are lazy, but because they are carrying heavy burdens of opposition from the devil that prevent them from being successful. Such people will not be able to succeed despite their best efforts. However, when Jesus, the Burden Bearer, steps into their lives, their situations will turn around for good.

A young man once came to me for prayers. He told me that his boss always opposed him because of his Christian faith. The boss went as far as saying that he would never get promoted as long as he was his boss. Due to that, the young man remained stagnant in the company. I prayed with him and decreed in the name of Jesus that every mountain that was blocking his way should be removed. Shortly after, his boss was transferred to another location, and the young man was promoted. After a while, the boss was moved back, but by then, the young man had already been promoted to the same level as his former boss. Just one decree in the name of the Burden Bearer turned his situation around.

Beloved, are you experiencing stagnation in your career or academics? I decree today that every burden of opposition against your career or academics is removed now, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 19 July 2026 Sunday – Deliverance From Career And Academic Burdens

1. Father, I thank You for being the Burden Bearer who delivers me from every form of stagnation and opposition in my career and academics. Thank You for the promise that my path will shine brighter and brighter, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every mistake, sin, or carelessness that has opened the door to career or academic stagnation in my life, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, just as You turned Peter’s fruitless night into a miraculous catch, I pray that You will turn every failure and disappointment in my career and academics into supernatural success, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, I remove every burden of opposition against my career or academics. Every enemy, every obstacle, and every wall of stagnation, I command you to fall down in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, I pray for everyone who is in a position below their potential. Lift them up and place them where they belong, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, I come against every spirit of stagnation, limitation, and delay in my career and academics. Let every mountain blocking my progress be removed now, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, I pray for every young person whose boss or supervisor is opposing them because of their faith. Let every enemy of their progress be removed, and let them be promoted, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, I receive the grace to obey Your word even when it seems impossible. Like Peter, let me launch out at Your word and experience supernatural results, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, I pray for everyone who has been toiling without results in their career or academics. Let them experience a divine turnaround and a harvest that will overflow, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific career or academic challenges you are facing—stagnation, opposition, failure—and ask God for deliverance and promotion).

11. Thank You, Father, for the assurance that You are the One who removes mountains and makes a way where there seems to be no way. I receive my career and academic breakthrough today, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
