1 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

2 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock

of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the Lord will answer him by myself:

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 29 November 2025 Saturday Daily Devotional

Prophecies come from three major sources: the devil, the human spirit, and the Holy Spirit. Today, I will discuss prophecies from the human spirit. When a prophecy comes from people’s spirits, they will say things that they sense will happen, but most times, they won’t happen.

Many times, a person could get excited and think, in that moment, that he or she has heard from God; however, it could be that the person only heard from his or her human spirit. This is why you must put your emotions in check whenever you want to hear from God so that you won’t hear from your human spirit and assume you heard from God.

When you are expecting to hear from God, and your mind is fixed on a particular result that you want, you will likely hear a confirmation of that result from your human spirit and assume that God has spoken. When I was much younger in ministry and there were signs that I would be travelling frequently on ministerial assignments, an airline offered me some really good packages.

I was excited by the offer and prophesied that the airline would prosper and never suffer any disaster. Shortly after my declaration, the airline suffered a plane crash. I could have just prayed for them and blessed them; instead, I prophesied based on my emotions.

If you do not let go of your emotions and allow God to sincerely search your heart, you will hear the idols of your heart giving you the go-ahead when you approach God for His counsel in prayer.

For example, if a young lady is asking God about which one of her suitors is His choice, she needs to control her emotions despite her personal preference and give God total control concerning the matter if she really wants to hear from Him. If she asks God about His choice but discovers that her heart is fixed on the one she likes during her prayers, she should find a neutral person to pray with her because she just might hear from her human spirit telling her to go ahead with her preference. She must also genuinely want to hear from God because today’s memory verse says that if you approach a prophet with idols in your heart, God will answer you according to those idols.

Beloved, train your human spirit to totally submit to God so that whenever you need to hear Him, your emotions won’t interfere with His counsel.

Praise God.

Our topic for today once more is sources of prophecy part one. And in the body of today’s devotional, we have our father in the lord saying to us that prophecies come from three major sources. The devil, the human spirit and the holy spirit. Today I will discuss prophecies from the human spirit. When a prophecy comes from people’s spirits, they will say things that they sense will happen. But most times they won’t happen. Many times, a person could get excited and think in that moment that he or she has heard from God.

However, it could be that the person only heard from his or her human spirit. Our topic for today once more is sources of prophecy part one. Today’s study draws our attention to a very silent but dangerous reality. The fact that not every prophecy comes from God. We see from today’s study that there are generally three sources of prophecies. The Holy Spirit, the human spirit, and the devil. Today our father and the Lord focus on the human spirit because many believers fall into error not just because of demonic deception alone but also because of misguided emotions.

So, understanding how this works is essential for every believer in this age where opinions, desires, and even excitement sometimes disguise themselves as divine instructions. We learned from today’s study that people sometimes speak from their emotions and mistake it for God’s voice. We learned from today’s study that prophecies from the human spirit are often birthed from either excitement, fear, preferences, or our desires, but definitely not from the revelation that comes from God. We learn from today’s study that prophecies that come from the human spirit often come from unsubmitted desires. You would always find them rooted in our human expectations. Beloved, do not forget also that scripture tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things.

So, if the heart is not submitted to God, it means that a heart can deceive even its owner. So, you see why maturity in Christ requires self-restraint. It requires a quiet heart and deep submission as we seek God’s direction. Sadly, we learned from today’s study that many believers come before God hoping to hear him, but their hearts are already biased. And we know how such cases end. The result would be that in the end, they would end up hearing an echo of their own desires, not the voice of God. The sad part is that that individual may begin to run with that conviction that he or she has heard God not knowing that the idols in their hearts were the ones speaking and ministering to them. So, to avoid such errors as believers, we must ensure to check our emotions. We must ensure to surrender our personal preferences to God.

We must ensure that we approach him with an open heart and not with the expectation that he will rubber stamp our own choices. Never allow your emotions to be cloud your judgment. When emotions become louder than God’s voice, destiny can be sabotaged. Some of the reasons why many believers today fail to hear God correctly is because they approach him with a predetermined answer.

Many believers today fail to hear God correctly also because many times while they are praying, they are already emotionally attached to a particular outcome like the example our father and the Lord gave us today. You are a lady you are trusting God for clarity about the suitors coming your way yet there’s this particular one maybe because of some physical attributes or probably because of his financial status. Your heart has totally tilted towards him. You need to check it to ensure that you would not be hearing the voice of your spirit instead of that of God. Sometimes we as believers lean towards something that we do not want God to deny us.

We are asking him for clarity but our eyes are fixed on something. These among many others are reasons why decisions about marriage, ministry, investing, decisions about relocating or decisions about relationships often go wrong for some believers even when they think that God has spoken. So the big question is how can we keep our human spirit from interfering? For this to be possible, it is important for us to train our spirit to be quiet before God. We must practice to be emotionally neutral. We must be able to say to the Lord, “Lord, whether you say yes or no, I belong to you.”

What this does is that it removes emotional pressure and opens the heart to the true guidance that only God can give. Also learn to submit every desire to God. Do not deny those desires. Submit them instead to God. Tell the Lord, “Lord, here is my heart. Search me, oh God, and see if there be any wicked way in me.” Scripture also makes us understand that in the multitude of counselors, there is safety. So we can invite counelss from mature believers. Those who have a proven walk with God and can give towards godly counsel. Learn also to look out for the voice of God. Give him the space to speak to you. Do not rush into making choices. Sometimes that pressure and temptation to rush into choices may not be of God. Also learn to fill your heart with scripture. Let the word of God saturate your heart. The more you fill your heart with God’s word, the less room there would be for emotional noise. His word would be a lamp onto your feet and a light onto your path. Hallelujah.

I would like us at this point to bow our heads and would be asking the Lord today would say, “Father, please search me and remove every idol in my heart that can prevent me from hearing your voice accurately in the name of Jesus.” Just tell the Lord today say, “Father, whatever idol, whatever thing that is in my life that can hinder me from hearing you correctly, Lord, by your mercy today, let there be uprooted in the name of Jesus. Whatever desires that are not in line with your own will for me, Father, tilt them to the direction of your will in the name of Jesus. Help me to want what you want; help me to love what you love. Let your desire be my desire. Let my will be buried in yours in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today. Say, Lord, teach me to quiet my emotions when seeking your will. Teach me to silence all of my emotions, my desires in the name of Jesus. Let only your desire for me speak. Let me hear only the voice of your instructions to me leading and guiding me in the name of Jesus. Let the noise of any desire in my heart which is not of you today be silenced permanently in the name of Jesus. Teach me to have a quiet spirit where I can always hear you minister to me and reveal your will to me in the name of Jesus.

Ask the spirit of God today. Say, “Holy Spirit, help me discern between my thoughts and your instructions in the name of Jesus. Sharpen my mind. Sharpen my understanding. sharpen my sensitivity to descend between my thoughts and your instructions to me at all times in the name of Jesus. Let there be a clearcut difference. Let me recognize your voice with clear distinction whenever you speak to me in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord also today say father deliver me from every decision birthed from my emotions in the name of Jesus. Maybe we have made choices in the past that came as a result of our own desires, our own emotions. Say, “Father, deliver me. Help me through. Pull me through. Let your mercy speak for me today and always in the name of Jesus.” Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just worship him. Give him thanks. Honor and adore him. Father, we adore your holy name. Receive our thanks, oh Lord. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
