Open Heavens 29 October 2025 Wednesday – Victory In His Name
MEMORISE: The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Psalms 20:1
READ: Psalms 118:6-12 Open Heavens 29 October 2025
6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

Bible In One Year: Luke 19-20

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 29 October 2025 Wednesday Daily Devotional
A personโs future can be influenced by his or her name. For example, Moses was so named in Exodus 2:10 because he was drawn out of water. Throughout his lifetime, he continually had encounters with water. God used him to perform several miracles with water, including: changing water to blood (Exodus 7:20), parting the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21), turning bitter water to sweet water (Exodus 15), and bringing water out of the rock (Exodus 17).
Names are important; this is why God had to change the names of some people in the Bible so that their destinies could be fulfilled. My mother told me that on her way to see a priest concerning my baptismal name, the name she had in mind was Elisha. However, by the time she got to the priest, she had forgotten the name, so she told him that she would name me Enoch. When she shared this story with me, I told her that I would keep the two names โ Elisha, who had a double portion of the anointing, and Enoch, the man who walked with God. The names people are called are important to their destinies, but there is a name that is greater than all names, and that name is JESUS.
In Philippians 2:9-11, the Bible says, โWherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.โ
In Psalm 118:10-13, David revealed the secret to his victory. He said that when the nations compassed him about, he destroyed them in the name of the Lord. He understood the power in the name of the Lord.
Beloved, is there anything troubling you as a child of God? Does it have a name? If it does, I congratulate you because you have just defeated it. As long as it has a name, there is a name above it. Even if doctors canโt find a name for anything that might be troubling you medically and they say that all they can see from their diagnosis is โnothingโ, that is still a name, and when you trust in the name of the Lord, you will always be victorious. Call on the name of the Lord today, and He will give you victory over anything that is troubling you.
Reflection – Open Heavens 29 October 2025
Do you have absolute trust in the name of Jesus?
Open Heavens 29 October 2025 Wednesday Hymn
Hymn 1: All Hail The Power Of Jesusโ Name
1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!
2 O seed of Israel’s chosen race
now ransomed from the fall,
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all.
Hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all!
3 Let every tongue and every tribe
responsive to his call,
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all.
To him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all!
4 Oh, that with all the sacred throng
we at his feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song
and crown him Lord of all.
We’ll join the everlasting song
and crown him Lord of all.
Open Heavens 29 October 2025 Wednesday Commentary
Praise the Lord.
Our topic for today once more is victory in his name. Today’s study makes us understand that names are not ordinary labels. We are made to understand that they carry spiritual significance and even prophetic weight. Every name is not ordinary. Every name speaks either of destiny or of identity or of direction. When God created man, he gave Adam the authority to name every creature. That tells us that names are not ordinary because they have the power to shape and influence lives. We see in the Bible how the names of people often reflect divine purpose. Jacob, for example, whose name meant suppler, lived according to that meaning until God changed his name to Israel. You would realize that from that moment moving forward, his story changed and the covenant blessing upon his life became established. This is why we must be very careful about the names that we bear. Even the names that we call others too. Do not say, “Oh, it is just a casual name.” There is nothing serious about it.
Beloved, you eventually become what you are called. You know the story of Jabz in scripture. Scripture makes us understand that his name meant sorrow. He lived a life filled with pain until he called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh, that thou would bless me indeed and enlarge my coast.” And when God answered him, sorrow gave way to blessing. His story changed because he refused to let his name define his destiny. So beloved, you see that your name speaks greatly about your identity. Even if your name has been associated with pain, delay or struggle, the name of Jesus can rewrite your identity. It is he alone who has the power to change your name and redefine your destiny.
One very beautiful thing we learned from today’s study is the fact that yes there are names but there is a name that is above every other name and that is the name of Jesus. We are made to understand from scripture that God has given our Lord Jesus a name which is above every name. That means there is no name in heaven, on earth or even beneath the earth that can stand equal to his. The name of Jesus is not just a word. It carries divine authority. You remember the story of Peter and John when they healed the lame man at the beautiful gate. They said in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. Immediately the man who had been lame from birth stood up and walked. These men did not use their own names. They used the name that commands obedience from sicknesses, demons, and all kinds of circumstances.
Today’s study makes it very clear to us that whatever has a name must bow to Jesus. Whether it is poverty, sickness, fear, failure, barness or depression, whatever it is, as long as it has a name, it bows to the name that is above every other name. And that is the name of Jesus. Hallelujah. I’d also like to add that it is good to have this understanding. However, it is even better when we actually put this knowledge to work. So, let me ask you, in times of distress and trouble, which name do you call upon? Because the name that you call upon matters. Some call on influential friends. Others call on their wealth or connections. But true believers, genuine children of God, know that the name of the Lord is just enough for them. It can bring deliverance. When David faced Golth, the giant came armed with weapons. He came with confidence in his size. But David said to him, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a shield. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts. And with the sling of just one stone, which was powered by faith in God’s name, Golth fell flat. what military weapons and tactics could not achieve. Faith in the name of the Lord made it possible and there was great deliverance. Hallelujah.
Beloved, the same name that gave David victory is still powerful even today. If you call upon that name in faith, every giant confronting your life will bow. It is important also to know that as a believer, your power of identity is in the name of Jesus. When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, his name becomes your spiritual covering. You no longer walk under the limitations of your natural name. His name becomes your new identity. That is why scripture tells us that in my name shall they cast out devils. They shall speak with new tongues. Your authority as a believer is not in your title, in your wealth or your position. It is in the name of Jesus. And whenever you call upon that name, everything that stands before you that is not of God crumbles. Hallelujah.
So, before we go today, remember that your name carries prophetic weight. It can influence your destiny. Remember also that the name of Jesus has power over every other name on earth and in heaven. Do not forget that calling upon the name of the Lord in faith guarantees your deliverance. We are reminded today also that your authority as a believer is tied to the name of Jesus and that as long as your challenges have names, you already have victory because the name of Jesus is above them all. I would like us now at this point to bow our heads and just thank the Lord for his word which we have heard. Say, “Father, we are grateful. Thank him also for the power and authority in his name.” Worship the king of glory. Adore him. Say, “Father, we worship you. We adore you. Blessed, blessed be your name in Jesus’ name.” Now, speak to your father today.
Say, “Lord, please change any name, whether spoken or written, that is contrary to my destiny in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today for a change of every name that is contrary to our destinies in the name of Jesus. What name is it that people have called you? Maybe a name that they casually gave to you which does not speak of God’s intended purpose and destiny for your life. Tell the Lord say father I denounce that name today in the name of Jesus. Also tell the Lord today say father let every challenge in my life bow to the name of Jesus in Jesus name. What is the name of that challenge? Is it a health problem? Is it finances? What is it? Call upon the name of the Lord today. Say father at the mention of your name let every of those challenges bow. Let they surrender. Let they give way to your name which is above every other name in the name of Jesus. Maybe the doctors have called a very intimidating name. And they are saying that is the new situation at hand. Call upon the name which is far above every other name. See father let your name answer for me in the name of Jesus. Let every name that is contrary to yours bow in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today say, “Lord, give me fresh revelation and boldness to use your name in faith in Jesus’ name.” Ask the Lord today.
Say, “Father, please grant unto me fresh revelation. Grant unto me fresh insight. Let my spiritual eyes be enlightened on ways to use your name in faith. Grant me the grace to be like David, to look into the eyes of every of my challenges and declare your name in the name of Jesus. And as I confront them in the name of the Lord, let there crumble. In the name of Jesus, ask the Lord today, say, “Father, let your name continually bring victory, peace, and glory into my life in Jesus’ name. Let your name always answer for me. Let your name continually be my hiding place. Let it continually be my strong tower. Let it be my place of refuge at all times in the name of Jesus. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Lord, we worship you. Blessed be your name. King of glory, receive all thanks and adoration. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
